"Free" employer provided health care and employer paid Social Security taxes hide the true value and cost of these benefits from employees.
Making the percentage and dollar value of a persons income paid in non-cash forms or paid on behalf of the employee very visible would address the myth of "free employer provided" health insurance and show the true cost of Social Security.
When health coverage is seen as not free, the debate becomes how to best pay for it and get the most value for the money spent, rather than "free" versus "taxes". It becomes an honest debate. A dollar is a dollar and it's still leaving your wallet, it's just a question of how it's done and where the check goes.
