We would like to see a public, nationwide, registry listing persons convicted of animal abuse, whether it be misdemeanor or felony abuse. This registry must provide an up to date address, photo and list of their offenses. And it must be required by law for them to register upon conviction. In addition, they may not use false names or information to try and obtain animals.
Too many animals are suffering at the hands of violent offenders and it could be prevented if there were a way for individuals to know not to sell or re-home their animals to those offenders. Animal abusers need to be stopped for more than just the safety of the animals. Many animal abusers escalate to abuse of human beings. We need to be the voice for innocent animals and it could start with this registry.
