The playing or singing of the National Anthem at public events, particularly NFL games has become an exercise in creativity. The National Anthem is neither a ballad nor a pop song and should not be interpreted in that way.
We urge the President to mandate, by Executive Order, that the playing or singing of the National Anthem MUST be performed in the traditional manner and not by individual interpretation.
