Instead of the current wages and retirement benefits our politicians receive the government should put them on a comparable pay scale to that which our military forces are being paid.
This includes putting them on Tricare for their medical and dental insurance programs unless they would like to pay out of pocket for a better service.
This would also require them to work a minimum of 20 years to earn their retirements. The retirement pay would also work the same way any other federal job or military position would. If they do not hold a federal position for at least 20 years they will not be entitled to any retirement benefits.
Instead of cutting pay from people that are barely making ends meet we should be cutting the pay of those that can afford it.
