Recently politicians have not voted based on what their constituents want, but based upon what their party tells them. It has created needless bickering, ineffectiveness and promoted propaganda and bribery from billionaire backed lobbyists, PACs and Super PACs. If politicians were required to consult their constituents before voting on legislation the government would actually get things done according to the will of the people they serve. They would be required to adhere to the wishes of the people they were elected to represent, no matter if those people voted for them or not. They are public servants, not leaders. Make them serve their constituents, not their party leaders.
