Require private gun sales to be facilitated by an FFL arms-dealer.

Created by S.T. on December 17, 2012

Owning a firearm is a constitutionally protected right for legal citizens. However, there is a major loophole in the system- in most states, it is legal to perform a private sale of a firearm with no records. All too often, these private sales are done without the appropriate background checks and can lead the weapons falling illegally in the wrong hands.

Please consider mandating that all gun sales must go through an arms dealer carrying a valid FFL. Reasonable and legally abiding gun owners would have no issue performing the transfer at their local gun shop. This process is already required when ordering a weapon from out of state and ensures that the buyer goes through the appropriate background checks.
