When adopting a new pet, there are very little, if any requirements made for prospective pet owners. There is almost no way to tell if there could be the possibility of an abusive home. It should be crucial that these pets receive a loving and safe home. Too often are there reports of animal abuse. These are innocent and helpless creatures that are there to be loved and give love. Animals do not have the ability to protect themselves and seek help against these torturous acts. The process of screening would allow all pets to receive a safe shelter and a loving family to take care of them. All shelters and pet adoption facilities should require home inspections and background checks of all potential pet owners to safeguard against future possibilities of abuse or neglect.
