Public Schools from 1st grade through 12th grade should be teaching students in depth how to save and invest using all legal options available. Students should graduate high school with the knowledge of a professional in personal financial management and growth.
Simply teaching elementary students the steps of filling out a check and register and calling it "personal finance education" is ignoring the real issue, as is merely offering the optional high school math course in consumer or business math.
No wonder Americans have become entirely inept in regards to financial management. This is a very serious issue that is clearly obvious even without researching statistics.
Our children may experience a tougher economy. It IS our American responsibility to raise them equipped to thrive.
