In the wake of the Aurora Theater shooting, the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting, as well as last year's Fort Hood shooting and many other incidences of gun violence, people across the country are looking to prevent further tragedy.
One way this can be done is to enforce practices that ensure that in the event of an emergency exit door being used, police and fire are called and those in the building are notified.
At the Aurora Theater, the exit door was propped open; no siren or flashing light went off, there was no notification sent to theater staff and patrons or to Aurora Police and Fire that there may be an emergency.
