Require Reduced Taxes on LGBT Americans in States Where They Have Less Rights Than Straight People

Created by B.D. on July 12, 2013

We petition the Obama Administration to issue an executive order requiring states that discriminate against LGBT Americans-such as not allowing them to marry and not protecting their employment status in the same way that gender, race, religion, and national origin are protected-to tax their LGBT residents at lower rates than straight residents. Since LGBT people are not protected in the way straight people are, they are not receiving the same rights as everyone else and therefore should not have to pay the same price of citizenship. This would also make up for the tax benefits LGBT couples cannot claim in states where they cannot be married.
