Require Same Gender Psychiatric Wards, for the protection of Women in Inpatient Psychiatric Hospitals.

This petition is to ask the government to require hospitals to require Inpatient Psychiatric wards be separate by gender. Hospitals and Government need to be aware that female patients in inpatient psychiatric settings are especially vulnerable and need to have separate wards to sleep in. Many females have been abused physically and/or sexually, as children and/or adults. During Psychiatric illness females need to be protected from physical,verbal, and also mental harm. Having female psychiatric patients together with male patients and male staff who look in on them every hour, sometimes every 15 minutes, especially when they are trying to sleep in an unlocked room, or shower, makes it impossible for many to sleep or shower for the several weeks they are there, prolonging the sickness.
