The polar vortex has made the temperature drop to all time lows. Students, particularly college students, should not be required to walk to and from class when it's -15 (or colder out). When it only takes 5 minutes to get frostbite, it is downright presumptuous to believe it's reasonable to require students to be outside for an extended period of time.
When one has no other method of getting to and from their class, a 30 minute walk in -20 degree weather is simply ridiculous, not to mention dangerous. Presidents of colleges need to take this into consideration when they decide to keep school open. Not everyone drives and not everyone can afford to take the bus; nor would it be safe to wait outside for the bus.
