It has been shown that students are better able to learn mathematical concepts when the concepts are relatable to student life.
It is common knowledge that the constant of proportionality for circles, pi, has its own holiday on March 14. In order to assist students in their understanding of pi, and to encourage stronger participation of celebrating Pi Day, this petition recommends that institutions of higher learning and secondary schools be mandated to serve pie on Pi Day. This petition suggests the pie be served with a decorative yet educational design on the crust intended to teach students a fun fact about pi.
Due to health concerns, this petition holds no position on the serving of pie in elementary schools, nor does this petition request students be required to consume pie.
