"Smart" TV's are currently being sold in mass. There have been many privacy concerns from Samsung eavesdropping to LG collecting user data on inserted USB drives to Pepsi ads being inserted into users private media during viewing.
There should be an easy way for consumers to protect themselves. Such and user accessible physical switches on televisions that can disable wireless, microphones and cameras (not a software solution). Many manufacturers claim to have "opt out" options but no one really knows what they are doing.
Most users don't read, or cannot under stand the EULA's they read. People should not have to live in fear of what their TV is or is not monitoring. Being able to physically disable these devices will alleviate some of the concerns.
