Require Sprint, and other Domestic Carriers, to provide unlocks for phones, regardless of device manufacturer.

Created by M.S. on December 06, 2014

Sprint has continued to deny consumers the ability to unlock phones such as the Apple iPhone 4S and up, despite being multi-band phones capable of being unlocked, in violation of https://www.congress.gov/bill/113th-congress/house-bill/1123 and simple common sense business. This behavior is both anti-competitive and anti-consumer.

Sprints claims that there are "technological barriers" to unlocking the phone is a patently false. The phones contain the necessary hardware to operate on almost all US domestic carriers. The only barrier in place is their unwillingness to create the same system every other carrier has to let Apple know that a phone is now carrier unlocked.

This aggressively anti-consumer behavior needs to stop, and the FTC should be investigating Sprint's policies.
