The State Department is refusing to provide routine and timely public access to comments filed on its controversial Keystone environmental review. I believe it is in the best interest of our country that these comments be made available to the public through all accessible channels due to the amount of controversy involved, the size and scope of the project detailed, and minimal cost to do so.
For instance, the EPA, an agency with 1/6th of the budget the State Department has for FY2013, has been able to share all public comments through regulations.gov. The State Department should willfully be doing the same with the Keystone XL environmental review to better reflect public opinion on this matter.
We request the State Department share all Keystone XL public comments with the public.
