To require states to pay Maternity, parental and sickness benefits through unemployment benefits for a min of 50 weeks

The American Academy of Pediatrics and the World Health Organization recommends six months of exclusive breastfeeding for the health of mother and baby. Psychologists believe that children thrive best when they have a warm, loving parent at home with them, particularly during the first three years of life. Children from two-parent families whose mothers returned to work within three years are more likely to do worse in school than their counterparts. Why is it that the USA is failing families by not ensuring that children have the best chance possible by allowing mother's or fathers the chance to stay home with them for at LEAST the first year. Many mothers do not breast feed or discontinue breast feeding becasue they are forced to return to work causing many health problems for infants.
