That is why it is necessary for our children to learn a language in elementary or middle school, when it is th easiest to learn a second language. Only about 1 in 5 K-12 students takea language class, and only 1 in 20 will continue to do so into college. All in all, only about 1% of adults remember the language they learn in school. With more help, more people would be able master a second language and be able to meet with a multitude of people around the world and have opprotunities of a lifetime.
