Require the U. S. Census Bureau to create a separate race category for people from the Middle East and North Africa.

Created by N.W. on July 16, 2015

The U. S. Census Bureau currently defines the racial term White as "a person having origins in any of the original peoples of Europe, the Middle East, or North Africa." This definition fails to take into account the vast differences in the people who are grouped into this one category. People of the MENA race have unique customs, languages, music, and religions that make them strikingly different from people of European descent.

I am married to a man who was born and raised in Egypt. Despite what the Census Bureau says, my husband is not White. He doesn't not identify with White America. He is not accepted as a equal by White America. He does not enjoy the privileges of White America. He is treated as a member of an inferior minority group; yet he is ineligible for minority benefits.
