Require the United States to Petition the UN and Japan to Seek Assistance for Removing Spent Fuel at Fukushima

Created by G.S. on August 19, 2013

The proposed fuel removal at Fukushima, set to begin in November, represents an enormous risk to the entire ecology of the Northern Hemisphere. The inability of the Japanese Government and Tokyo Electric Power Company (TEPCO) to truthfully admit to the scale of the problem and seek assistance to help end this disaster, should be seen as reason to petition the UN and the Japanese Government to engage the global community to help with fuel removal.

It is not an understatement to say that if there is an error in the process of removing the spent fuel from the damaged buildings, or another earthquake should structurally weaken the fuel pools, that an uncontrollable chain reaction could result in a fuel-pool fire that would have far-reaching and disastrous consequences.
