Massive storms, natural disasters and an aging electricity grid have lead to more and more blackouts across the country.
These blackouts aren't just an inconvenience they are downright dangerous. The current situation is dire.
The Obama administration should take immediate action to require utility poles in the US be equipped with solar panels and/or small wind turbines.
These clean sources of energy will help reduce the overall rate of electricity usage and bring down overall costs.
In a blackout situation street lights would still work properly reducing the risk to pedestrians, motorists and emergency vehicles.
