Voters that don't pay taxes have no incentive to consider fiscal implications when casting their votes. Approximately 50% of the country pays no federal income tax, which makes this a significant issue. People that don't pay into the system should not be deciding who runs it.
I propose a very simple addition to voter registration requirements that would enable those of us that actually pay for the existence of our government to choose its leaders. The requirement would state that any person that wishes to vote in a Federal election must have paid at least $100 in federal income tax in the year preceding the election in question.
