require a warrant to access all current and future forms of electronic communication and/or storage.

Created by B.H. on May 08, 2013

Currently different Federal agencies and Departments state that they do not need a warrant in order to access the email or other forms of electronic communication while investigating an individual.

The Obama Administration should acknowledge that "innovations" like email and online file storage are the modern equivalent of mail and private documents, which the Founding Fathers protected via the 4th Amendment.

Forms of communication that require warrants should include email, text messages, voice mail, facebook/twitter messages, search engine search histories, as well as online file and document storage.

Finally, there should be provisions maintaining 4th Amendment Protections for future forms of electronic communication.
