The Obama administration should promote legislation which prohibits ISPs, law enforcement agencies, and government entities from collecting information about any individual's internet usage.
A warrant is required before the police may enter your home or search private records. Prior to the Patriot Act, a warrant was required for wiretapping. Why should the details of anyone's web usage be deprived of these protections? Internet Service Providers frequently maintain detailed databases pertaining to sites visited, messages sent, and data downloaded. These records are freely shared with law enforcement and government agencies.
It should be necessary to obtain a warrant before any such information may be collected or used for any reason.
