In most cases, when you purchase wireless phone service in the United States, you purchase your phone at a subsidized pricing according to most post paid carriers. The terms of these contracts usually extend two years, under the assumption that you are paying off the device.
Yet, after two years, the price of the wireless phone service often remains exactly the same. Additionally, if you cancel service before the end of the contract you are required to pay an Early Termination Fee.
Wireless carriers should be required to bill the subsidy as a separate line item, clearly on the bill, as well as being required to stop charging the fee once the device is paid off. Why keep paying for a phone that is paid off?
American consumers deserve better than rampant profiteering.
