All men who are american citizens are legally required to register for selective service between ages 18 and 25. Failure to do so may entail fines up to $250,000 and/or a 5 year prison sentence. If not prosecuted, men who do not sign up are ineligible for Student Financial Aid, U.S. Citizenship, and Federal Jobs. All men, including the disabled, clergymen, and those who believe themselves to be conscientiously opposed to war, must also register. For our nation to truly allow equal rights between the genders, women should not be excluded from the same requirements as men as citizens of the United States and there should be no crime to be charged only to one sex and not the other. Promote equality, require all citizens, male or female, to register for selective service.
