Currently, students are only required to complete two years of physical education in High School. As a result, obesity is now an epidemic in America. Requiring P.E. during all four high school years will help students establish regular exercise routines and prevent an increase in childhood obesity. First Lady Michelle Obama created the “Lets Move” campaign to get everyone active in America. According to Mrs. Obama’s let move campaign over the past three decades childhood obesity rates have tripled and nearly 1 in 3 children in America are overweight. A balanced, well portion sized meal is important to a healthy lifestyle, and the “Myplate.gov” program focuses on that goal.
