We need to acknowledge the safety and efficacy of the medicinal use of marijuana. It is currently legal in 20 states and more states are following suits every year. Additionally, as the research also shows marijuana to be as safe as alcohol, it does not deserve to be classified as a schedule 1 drug by the Controlled Substance Act definitions. Even the President of the United States acknowledges this. It is ethically wrong to have such differing views between government figures, the public, and our legal laws.
