Earlier today, US Embassy made a statement on Weibo, a Chinese social media:
"美国谴责这一可怕且毫无意义的在昆明的暴力行为。我们向死难者的家人表示哀悼，并向所有被这场悲剧殃及的人们致以慰问。"
It referred to the domestic terrorist attack in Kunming, China as a meaningless violent act and downplayed the terrorism involved. Many Chinese people (US Citizens and otherwise) found this statement very hurtful.
We would like the State Department to rescind the old statement and issue a new statement to call terrorism what it is instead of downplaying it.
