Rescind approval for Shell to drill in the Chukchi Sea off the Alaskan Arctic coast.

Created by Y.P. on July 31, 2015

The Obama administration must rescind approval recently given to Shell Corporation to drill two wells in the Chukchi Sea off of Alaska's Arctic Coast.

The Bureau of Safety and Environmental Enforcement recently gave approval to what experts call a "tremendously disappointing decision that poses a serious, long-term threat to the fragile environment of the Arctic Ocean"1

This is a dangerous decision given Shell's poor track record of safety and reckless regard for the environment, and it runs counter to the Obama administration's strong record of environmental consciousness and efforts to curb global climate change.
