Congress and the Executive Branch, due to partisanship by extreme members of both parties, has failed in their job to govern effectively. The impending "fiscal cliff" is a direct result of this failure of the government to consider what is good for the country, adhering only to their party platform. This Congress and Executive branch has done nothing to merit a raise, especially when the current finances of the United States cannot support the existing budget.
