RECOGNIZING:
- That the Gun Control Act of 1968 ("GCA68") was passed in response to a time of national anguish;
- That GCA68, while purported as a "crime control" measure, has failed miserably;
- That the classes of "prohibited possessor" under GCA68 tend to be able to easily obtain firearms anyhow;
- That the only people who are affected by GCA68 restrictions are law-abiding individuals with no criminal intent;
- That "reasonable restrictions" promulgated under the authority of GCA68 are constantly being expanded;
- That the entirety of GCA68 runs counter to the Second Amendment of the Constitution, and should therefore be invalid;
We, the undersigned, petition the Obama administration to rescind GCA68 in its entirety, and to also hold void any measures derived therefrom.
