In August, 2011, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services issued a regulation requiring all employers to cover contraception, sterilization, and abortifacient drugs in their insurance policies. Only religious houses of worship were exempted.
On February 10, the President announced that objecting religious employers would be able to remove this coverage from their plans, but in turn he required that the insurance companies would be responsible for covering the contraceptive services.
In effect, this means that objecting employers would still be providing contraceptive services to their employees by providing them with health care in the first place. We ask that the White House repeal this HHS mandate and respect the religious liberty and consciences of objecting employers.
