To rescind the Race to the Top program and the push for excessive standardized assessments in the public schools.

Created by S.T. on January 19, 2013

I am the parent of a child with a disability and I have watched my child forced to sit through examinations he could never pass. I have held him while he cried over being a failure because he can't pass these tests. As an educator I have watched teachers move from being excited about teaching to being stressed over testing and over reliance on standardized measures. We are not building widgets we are developing minds. Each child is an individual who needs a professional educator who can challenge and excite them about learning. Schools are now all about stress and fear. The students are afraid about failing tests. Teachers are afraid that they will lose their jobs because of the tests. So much energy is consumed with tests we don't have time to teach! Stop the madness!
