Many World War II battlefield sites in Chinese Mainland are suffering destructive projects. According to the legal system of People's Republic of China, only the government have the right to approve the projects on cultural heritage. However, those projects on WWII battlefields are often destructive. A section of the Great Wall was engaged in the Nankou Campaign of World War II in China. Now many towers and walls have already been rebuilt in so people cannot see the records and evidence of the critical war any longer. The government said it's a "mistake" while the fact might be that they did it intentionally for some political reasons: The main force of China during WWII was Kuomintang, and the current party in power is Communist who don't want people know Kuopmintang's contribution.
