Here in the United States our politics are riven by constant partisan infighting. We can solve this issue by reforming the basic structure of the government itself.
With a change to a parliamentary system of governance our static two-party system of government (and the gridlock associated with it) would be greatly reduced. But how exactly would this occur?
In multi-party parliamentary systems, in many cases the largest party has to form a coalition government to have a majority in the lower house (and therefore control the Prime Minister post). This forces political parties to compromise and therefore be less ideologically bent. The processing of reforming our government many take time to complete but switching to this system will help end the gridlock that is strangling our nation.
