The term "marriage" has been traditionally defined as a religious bond between a male and a female to fulfill God's first commandment to "Be fruitful, and multiply, and fill the earth." The term "marriage" should be reserved for those who prescribe to these religious ideals. Jews, Christians, Muslims, and others hold marriage as a religious sacrament.
Modern culture demands that a similar "union" be available to same sex couples. Same sex "unions" are not viewed as religious sacraments and should not be called "marriages." Calling a "union" a "marriage" would be equal to calling someone's coming-out-party a bar mitzvah. They are not the same.
Please allow "unions" to anyone who wishes to be legally bound to any entity which they desire, while leaving "marriage" exclusively religious.
