resist pressure to approve Keystone Pipeline. State Dept wrong on this. No long-term profit for US only ecological ruin.

Created by J.T. on March 02, 2013

The US State Department recently stated that development of Keystone tar sands pipeline "would not worsen global warming", and would create thousands of jobs. Republicans instantly are on the bandwagon.
However, jobs created would be relatively few and temporary. Plus environmental damage would be devastating. Tar sands are toxic and corrosive, causing leaks in pipelines. When leaked, the spill is almost impossible to clean up. Just ask people in Kalamazoo, Michigan, where a small spill, three years ago, still has not been eradicated--after extensive efforts. Tar sands are not like ordinary oil.
President Obama so far has resisted Republican pressure to approve the pipeline. This report only will increase that pressure. Tell him not to give in.
