Resolved: We must not wage war on Iran. The Defense department may resort to bold faced lies as they did prior to the Iraq war. They may claim that Iran intends to make and use nuclear weapons. The war would have the same result as in Iraq, the waste of precious lives and billions of dollars.A war against Iran would be counter-productive because Iranians would hate us all the more and become a greater threat. We would have to maintain a permanent presence there to stop production nuclear weapons. We should not provoke Iran through drastic sanctions that will wreck their economy and starve their people, but rather we should use diplomacy, mild sanctions, and international pressure. We should not engage in scare tactics and provoke them into threats such as blocking the straits of Hormuz
