The second amendment, "A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed." The first half states, ''A well regulated Militia being necessary to the security of a free state''. Meaning there must be a militia (army) to keep the security of the nation and guarantee the nations freedom from foreign aggression as the founding fathers had just fought a tyrannical government . The bottom half states ''The right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed." Meaning the people have the right to bear arms and this right shall not be infringed. As the founding fathers had just fought a tyrannical government guaranteed the peoples right of self defense if it were to happen again.
