Respect the Constitution and remove any provision of the NDAA that allows for arrest without trial of Americans

Created by D.O. on December 22, 2012

With the resounding passage of the NDAA (National Defense Authorization Act) Our government now has the right to detain citizens and others without charge or trial for an indefinite amount of time. This petition calls for the Obama and future administrations to respect the Constitution, which expressly forbid this type of legislation. This bill violates multiple amendments to the Constitution and removes due process. We respectfully ask that our basic civil liberties be respected, and everyone targeted by the government is done so with a right to trial, a lawyer, and civil rights. President Obama should reject any and all legislation (as a constitutional lawyer) that is this blatant in subverting our basic American rights promised to us by the founding fathers.
