respect the opinion of the majority, reflected in MANY polls nationwide, and legalize and regulate marijuana.

Marijuana has been demonized in our society for decades, through propaganda such as the film "Reefer Madness", through clever disinformation, and through campaigns of fear mongerers who like to place marijuana in the same class as harder, man-made, laboratory produced drugs such as heroin and cocaine, among others. It is a far safer product than alcohol. Alcohol prohibition lasted 14 years; marijuana prohibition has existed for decades. It is time to realize the wishes of the majority as evidenced in several recent polls. It is time to stop wasting money persecuting and prosecuting marijuana users in this country, and it's time it was legalized, regulated, and taxed in a manner similar to alcohol and tobacco.
