The president must fulfill the oath of office that he took, regarding preserving, protecting and defending the Constitution. The degradation of multiple aspects of the Constitution, specifically civil rights, brought on by such laws as the Patriot Act, NDAA and others is clearly evident and widely-known. The Constitution also mandates that the laws of the United States be faithfully executed. This would require a president to "look backward" at war crimes, financial mismanagement and fraud, and various other crimes that have been well-documented, in order to insure the established laws of the United States are fully executed, protecting the citizens of this nation. The health of the nation is not preserved in hiding and ignoring horrific crimes but in revealing and investigating them.
