With the reelection of our nation's first African-American president and strides to break race barriers, We believe that an official and formal apology should be issued to the American people in general, and to the African-American community specifically for their systematic enslavement from the early 1600's to 1863 when the Emancipation Proclamation was signed by President Lincoln.
Although our forefather Abraham Lincoln did our nation a great justice by abolishing slavery he did not do this as a gesture of compassion, sympathy or humanity he did this to end a bloody, expensive drawn out war. America deserves to see justice and the African-American community deserves to see reparations as many Native American tribes have received, due to their maltreatment by the government.
