I feel we should grant Texas' request to secede from the Union.
Some statistics comparing Texas with the other states: 2nd in teen birth rate, 1st in toxic emissions, 1st in % of uninsured children, 1st in executions, 2nd in rate of incarceration, 5th in total crime, 7th in poverty rate, 2nd in % of population that goes hungry 45th in per capita spending on public health, 49 in water quality, 50th in high school graduation rates, 48th in spending on child protection, 50th in % of population with health insurance.
The two diverging opinions in the US today are rugged individualism (every one for himself) vs the idea that we are all in this together. Texas is the home of rugged individualism and has the resulting statistics above.
