In 2004, Judge-at-Large William Adams, of Rockport, Arkansas County, Texas was caught on video tape beating his then 16 year old daughter, a sufferer of Cerebral Palsy. Ironically, a large portion of Adam's docket consisted of physical domestic abuse cases. His crime was brought to light by his daughter 11 Nov 2011 after the statute of limitations for Criminal Child Abuse had expired. During the year long investigation Adams continued to receive his $146,000 salary. The Texas Supreme Court order of 6 Nov 2012 agreed with a deal between Adams and the Texas Commission on Judicial Conduct which consisted of ONLY a public warning and a $2000 reduction in pay. The Texas Supreme Court questioned his suitability for the bench but did not remove him.
