Respectfully require those signing secession petitions to read the Constitution and Lincoln's Second Inaugural Address.

Created by A.G. on November 12, 2012

WHEREAS it is very easy to claim that secession will solve all of one's earthly problems (and not a few spiritual ones as well); that the internet allows for all sorts of self-consoling gestures of dubious substance or quality;
HOWEVER, we conduct Federal elections every two years, which is less than the average life span of a sparrow in the wild; every citizen has a constant voice; the signers of secession petitions are making James Madison cry;
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that any and all persons signing on-line petitions advocating the right of any individual State to secede from the Union, be required, prior to signing the petition, to read and complete a brief essay about, the Constitution of the United States and the Second Inaugural Address of Abraham Lincoln.
