Mr. Samir Naji al Hasan Moqbel recently wrote an op-ed piece in the New York Times about the inhumane conditions he is currently enduring as an inmate at Guantanamo Bay (http://www.nytimes.com/2013/04/15/opinion/hunger-striking-at-guantanamo-...)
The President promised in his 2008 campaign to close this facility, and he has not done so.
We want the President to publicly respond to this op-ed and lay down a concrete plan to close Guantanamo with a firm deadline. If the home countries of inmates will not accept them back, we should give them a pathway to citizenship or legal residence here if they are found not guilty in court. If inmates are guilty of terrorism, they absolutely deserve to be punished accordingly, but we should all agree that they deserve a fair trial.
