As the economy is in need of jobs, a project should be undertaken to create these jobs. This project should have some meaningful results for the country or humanity. The Large Hadron Collider is one of the most ambitious construction feats attempted. It is already bringing in huge amounts of scientific data that will change how humans view the universe. We had our own Supercollider that would be three times as powerful as the LHC. This was scrapped to to budgetary concerns, but reinvesting would create many jobs and reinvigorate the nation as a place on the frontier of the unknown. If there are budget cuts, why should we cut that which pushes frontiers and inspires children? Why not invest? Invest and change the world.
