Mr President, we call on you to do the following:
1) Raise the overtime threshold to $69,000. I.e. require that workers who earn $69,000/yr be paid overtime when they work more than 40 hours a week. This would mean some 10 million working middle-class Americans would either get paid more work or work less for the same pay. And if those folks worked less, corporate America would end up hiring hundreds of thousands of additional workers to fill that gap. Unemployment goes down, wages go up!
2) Reduce the number of professions that are exempt from overtime standards as well. As the list stands right now, most of us are exempt from the outdated exemptions currently in place
